Intermittent Fasting

With life is starting to go back to normal and I've spoken to many people who are trying to get healthy again. Intermittent fasting is a great way to start!

Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating with a focus on when you should eat rather than what foods you should be eating. Although food is restricted during the recommended fasting period, non- or low-caloric beverages are acceptable. Although long term results have not been studied, the American Heart Association states that intermittent fasting may produce weight loss, reduce insulin resistance, and lower the risk of cardiometabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes.

There are three known methods of intermittent fasting:

  1. 16/8 Method or Leangains Protocol: A daily 16-hour fasting period and an 8-hour eating period.
  2. Eat-Stop-Eat Method: Fasting for 24 hours, once or twice a week. For example, not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day.
  3. 5:2 Diet: Reducing calories consumed to 500-600 on two non-consecutive days during the week and eating normally the remaining 5 days.

Bone broth that’s high in protein is a great way to stay satiated and relieve hunger pangs without breaking a fast. Broth is also a great source of amino acids for nourishment and electrolytes for hydration as well as collagen to help promote a healthy gut.

Wander Broth is perfect for on-the-go fasting! With 15 grams of natural collagen protein in convenient single serving packets, take it with you wherever you go, just add hot water and enjoy a rich cup of bone broth.

Consult your healthcare provider when considering starting any fast.
